Supporting Haitian-Owned Businesses

On September 13, Springfield residents flash-mobbed a Haitian-owned restaurant, Rose Goute Creole, to purchase food, be in community, and show their support.

STEVE MCQUEEN II: I want to thank everyone who came out to support this restaurant, the Haitian community and Springfield as a whole! I can't begin to tell you how elated I was to see the turnout! We will have more ways to show Springfield and other communities what organized love can accomplish over all of the hate in the future!

WAYNE BAKER: What a wonderful event tonight! The Haitian restaurant, Rose Goute Creole, in Springfield was delicious. Meeting many new friends and seeing YS show up was terrific. New friend, Bernald, was a wealth of information on the Haitian experience and was quite reassuring that there is not a war on pets etc. in the city. There is so much backstory to this that is fascinating and that story is forthcoming. Cruised the city and it all looks the same - hard times have hit just about everywhere, but reports of Springfield burning down greatly exaggerated. Schuler’s closed before I could grab a dozen. There is always tomorrow.
